Terms and Conditions Before entering the competition, please read the terms and conditions below. All entries and resulting prizes are subject to these terms and conditions.
By posting or emailing your entry, this signifies your acceptance of the terms and conditions as detailed on the website.
- All schools must be based within the South Wales or South West England regions.
- All children entering the competition should be between the ages of 7 to 12 inclusive.
- Entry to the competition is free of charge.
- All entries must be received at the given address on or before 15th February 2010 by post or email. Severn Link does not accept responsibility for lost, delayed, corrupted or invalid entries. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
- Severn Link does not accept any responsibility for any network congestion, technical failure or other problem in any telephone line, internet connection, network, system, provider or otherwise which results in an entry not being properly received.
- All correctly completed, received entries will be acknowledged via email by 20th February 2010.
- Entries with missing or incomplete information will not be considered for the shortlist.
- A shortlist of twelve entries will be made during late February and the shortlisted schools will be notified by email. The shortlist will be made by an independent entity to Severn Link.
- Shortlisted entries may be used for promotional opportunities such as on the Severn Link website and as part of any media coverage. The names of all children participating in the competition will be kept confidential and will not be published on the website or within promotional material or media coverage without the express permission of the school.
- The winning two entries will be chosen and notified by 15th March 2010. The winning entries will be those which the judges consider to be most representative of the aims of the Severn Link service.
- The winning schools must commit to receiving a day trip from a party from the other winning school during the 2009/2010 school year, to be arranged between the two schools at a mutually convenient time. Severn Link will provide ferry travel (and coach/minibus travel if required) to and from the destination school, but acts in this respect as a transport operator only and the management and staffing of the trip, and the safe management and health and safety of the children plus any additional costs incurred, are the sole responsibility of the school.
- The winning schools will be given a guest of honour status at the grand launch event which is currently planned to take place on a weekend day within Spring 2010 and will take place in Ilfracombe and Swansea. Shortlisted schools will be advised of the launch event date as soon as this is available. Up to forty children from each school will be able to attend as guests of honour. All children must be appropriately supervised by school staff or other adults nominated by the school. Numbers of supervisory staff should be as per the current policy held by the school for school trips.
- The content and schedule for the launch event will be advised to the winning school in writing together with its winner’s notification.
- Participants will own the intellectual rights to their entries, but in entering the competition, agree to grant Severn Link a perpetual, irrevocable license to exploit those rights. Severn Link reserves the right to use any entry as part of promotional material and on the Severn Link website.
- Any material submitted as part of the entry process cannot be returned.
- By entering the competition, schools acknowledge their willingness to take part in promotional activity surrounding the competition, including media interviews and photography by arrangement.
- All schools entering the competition will receive a 20% discount code for the school to use upon the ferry for the purpose of organised school trips. This discount code will be valid for 12 calendar months and on all Severn Link scheduled routes.
- Severn Link reserves the right to modify or change the prizes offered, or the format of the competition, at any time without due notice. Severn Link may also cancel or suspend the competition for reasons outside of its reasonable control. Changes to the competition will be posted on the Severn Link website.
- The judges’ decision is final and no appeals or discussions will be entered into.
- These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
